Les travaux de recherche du Dr Louis Pérusse portent principalement sur l'identification de gènes associés à l'obésité, aux comportements alimentaires et aux complications métaboliques et cardiovasculaires associées à l’obésité. Il s'intéresse aussi à l'étude de l'interaction entre ces gènes et les habitudes de vie telles l'alimentation et l'activité physique.
