Le docteur Pierre Gagnon est psychiatre spécialisé en psycho-oncologie, en médecine psychosomatique et en géronto-psychiatrie ainsi que professeur titulaire à la Faculté de Pharmacie de l’Université Laval. Il est chercheur au Centre de recherche en cancérologie de l’Université Laval, au Centre de recherche du CHUQ, à la Maison Michel-Sarrazin et au Centre de recherche Université Laval Robert-Giffard. Depuis 2000, le Dr Gagnon dirige l’équipe de chercheurs en soins palliatifs de l’Université Laval, qui est affiliée à la Maison Michel-Sarrazin. Ses travaux de recherche portent sur le delirium associé au cancer, sur la psychothérapie, en particulier existentielle, sur les soins palliatifs ainsi que sur les complications psychiatriques du cancer. Il est actif en enseignement sur différents aspects de la psycho-oncologie et des soins palliatifs. Il a été impliqué dans des comités au niveau local et international en oncologie et en soins palliatifs. Il est activement impliqué dans l’implantation de la recherche en soins palliatifs à l’Université Laval, où il est le président du comité de recherche. Il est également actif dans la communauté européenne française en participant à la création d’un Réseau international francophone de chercheurs en psycho-oncologie.
